What inspired you to start blogging?

I was inspired to start blogging because I’ve always had a passion for writing. My dream job was to write for magazines, but after graduating from college, it was hard to find a job in that field. A good friend suggested I start a blog to share my love for beauty and style so I did! FabEllis was created almost 10 years ago.

How have you built an authentic, engaged audience across channels?

I feel that one of the main ways I have built an authentic, engaged audience is by being myself. I have never tried to be anyone else, but me online. I ask questions, I respond to comments, I share encouragement throughout the day and I share great deals that I find at places I love like Target. Oftentimes, just being you, garners the type of audience that relates to you. Plus, I can never stress this enough… Taking the time to actually respond to people not only builds a rapport with your audience, but let’s them know that you care and that you are in this together. You’re never above anyone!

How do you balance the many topics that fall into the “Lifestyle” niche?

Admittedly, it is hard to balance being a lifestyle blogger. I find that one of the easiest ways to do this though is by sharing a variety of content on different platforms. For example, if you visit www.fabellis.com, you may see a fashion, travel or even discussion post. On Instagram, you may see a lot of visual pieces that show my love for beauty and style. On Facebook, I give a mixture of blog posts, encouragement and latest style news. Share what you love on your blog and switching it up on your social platforms allows you to share it all in a unique, fresh way. I balance topics on my blog by trying to ensure I share a different topic every three to four posts.

What is one challenge you have overcome as an Influencer, and how did you overcome it?

One challenge I have overcome is being afraid to say NO. I remember all too well what it felt like when I first began receiving campaign opportunities and I felt like I needed to say YES to them all. I quickly found that not only did some not align with my brand, but sometimes I took on too much at one time. I take the time now to make sure that all campaigns truly align with myself and my brand, that they pay what I am worth and that I give myself enough time to create beautiful content without too much on my plate.

What advice do you have for bloggers who are just starting out?

My advice for bloggers that are just starting out is to not wait until you think you have everything perfect to start. Start where you are, with what you have. Your ideal audience isn’t looking for you to be perfect. They are just looking to hear your perspective!

Check out some of Ashley’s favorite past CLEVER programs below!

Dove Beauty Bar I am such a huge fan of Dove and truly believe in their products. It was awesome to work with them again because I have partnered with Dove over the years and it is always a great experience. Plus, it is always great to work with brands that are household staples in our home.

California Closets My husband and I became homeowners last year and one of my slight fears with purchasing an older home was the smaller closet space. It was so cool to experience partnering with California Closets because they came and gave us a personal consultation. I loved seeing how our bedroom closet could be transformed within a few minutes on a computer.

Angel Soft I have been wanting to share more home and home decor posts so I was happy to partner with Angel Soft. Angel Soft has been such a home staple and I love the affordability. It was great to share with my audience an affordable way to keep their bathrooms fresh.
