• December 19, 2019
We’re finishing 2019 strong with Magaly, of Jet Plane Mommy, as our Featured Influencer! A Flight Attendant and Full-Time-Mom turned Blogger-Extraordinaire, Magaly knows a thing or two about the juggling act that comes with being a working parent. Her blog, which started as an outlet for sharing and processing her experience as a mother, has blossomed into a treasure trove of parenting and life hacks! She covers everything from family vacation advice to favorite recipes and fashion inspo. We love working with Magaly because she always delivers premium content, in the most professional and buttoned-up way. Keep reading to learn more about her!
What inspired you to start blogging?
My daughters, to be honest. I was going through a hard time with my PPD and feeling so lost because of things like losing my friends after babies for no real reason. I remember feeling so sad and just uncertain, and blogging basically became my diary. It was a way to write down how I was feeling and letting the universe deal with it. It honestly helped me so much dealing with all of the changes. And then I really wanted to start sharing some neat DIY projects and amazing recipes that I’ve loved! So I started sharing more of that, and things started shifting and now, well, here we are!
What is one of your favorite memories from your careers as an Influencer?
Taking my girls to events and seeing how their little eyes just sparkle with so much joy! We got invited to a special screening of The Lion King, and the excitement in them made me realize that I would do it all over again just to see that every single time. These experiences are a once in a lifetime and I am so glad I can share them with my babies.
How do you balance the variety of topics that you cover?
I try to cover all the basics but also the working mom part! I am a big advocate at work for moms not to give up on their dreams after having babies. I am a flight attendant, so I feel like in our industry once you have a baby, most people think that that’s it. It shouldn’t be that way! I also love sharing our lives and also things that we absolutely love and think are worth it! So far, I feel like I know what my followers want to see and I try to stick to that.
What advice do you have for bloggers who are just starting out?
Be your own creative individual and don’t be too hard on yourself or compare yourself to others. Write the things you want to write about even if it makes others uncomfortable. Give them something to read and talk about. And when needed, ask for help and don’t let “no’s” bring you down. Remember that nothing comes easy, but if you work hard people will notice your passion and dedication and they will want you to be part of their team. But my most important advice I can give you is to ALWAYS have fun!

#TisThe99: There is absolutely no better feeling than giving back to our community, and the fact that the 99 Cents Only stores make it so easy and affordable to do this couldn’t make me happier. This was a partnership made in heaven!
First Alert Winter Safety: I knew right away that I wanted to be part of this one. A couple of years ago after experiencing a fire at my moms house, I knew first-hand how kowing where to find the extinguisher and how to use it made a big difference in our lives and the lives of many others around my mom’s apartment. Since that day, we’ve always kept a couple of the first alert fire extinguishers at home and I felt that I needed to share our experience with others to hopefully make a difference in somebody’s life. This was definitely a message that I will advocate for the rest of my life.
