Kristy Sammis is the Founder & Chief Innovation Officer of the industry-leading, award-winning influencer marketing agency, CLEVER.
Kristy has defined influencer marketing since its inception. From BlogHer’s first moments to running the Internal Communications Department for Walmart.com, to making industry history as the first person to create sponsorships between influencers and brands, Kristy has been a true influencer marketing trailblazer. Kristy continues to reinvent the landscape with innovation and creativity.
Kristy’s passion and unrivaled expertise for the ways friends, strangers, and organizations intersect online has been instrumental in taking CLEVER from a bootstrapped startup in 2009 to thriving agency.
Kristy has been responsible for developing the CLEVER network, product & service offerings, marketing & sales strategies, and brand voice. She also led the development of CLEVER proprietary technology platform, which CLEVER uses to connect brands with their network of vetted social media influencers.
Kristy’s spent the better part of the last decade translating the amazing aspects of social media– those embodied by the #Batkid phenomenon that CLEVER spearheaded—into business principles: notably, that authenticity rules, “users” are actually human beings, and great stories always win the day.
Tapped for her insight and industry expertise, Kristy has presented at conferences including speaking alongside Martha Stewart at her own event, American Made, and keynoting the National Retail Federation’s “Big Show.” Kristy was invited to give the TEDx talk on the history-making #Batkid story, Social Media & Global Participation.
As CLEVER’s CIO, Kristy has been featured in numerous top-tier publications including The New York Times, CNN, AdAge, Adweek, INC, and Business Insider.
Kristy and her co-founders established the industry as professional bloggers. Together, they authored the Good Morning America-featured definitive guide on the industry, Influencer Marketing For Dummies, hold three spots on Folio’s Top Women in Media list, and have had their work featured in industry-leading media including Inc., Fast Company, CNET, and Forbes.
For two consecutive years, Inc. 5000 has recognized CLEVER as one of America’s Fastest Growing Companies, 2016 & 2017. In 2017, CLEVER was named a Great Place to Work—the global authority on high-trust, high-performance workplace cultures— an achievement earned based on extensive ratings provided by CLEVER employees.
